ZUBER.

Audio school, then six years teaching yoga and meditation across Asia, then 42 Paris. These days I'm lead developer at Semantik and I run ApeKode, an agents lab, after hours. This is the personal site — the work lives at the lab.

The long way here.

I grew up traveling with my violinist-and-conductor father and pastry-chef mother — France, Mexico, the USA. Primary and middle school in the States: playing in the woods, StarCraft, and coding on the Windows 95 laptop my dad got me at nine. I'd never had video games or television, but he felt computers would be important — and I loved them.

As a teenager we moved again, my parents split, and it was tough. I left home at 18 with a high-school diploma and $200. Tulum before it was hype, learning to work a bar. Private adventure tours and diving. I saved up and moved to Zurich at 20, worked construction while learning to DJ, and studied audio engineering until I was over the parties. So I left all that, went to India.

For the next ten years yoga was my life. I got seasonal jobs to support my practice; everything was about "the practice". I taught for six years across Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Australia — over a thousand students. It was an important and beautiful time, but I missed technology. Puzzles, mental challenges, code. So I started learning web dev and went back to school. 42 Paris was amazing: free, with everything you need to become a great computer scientist.

Now I'm the lead developer and first hire at Semantik, and after hours I run ApeKode, an agents lab. Most of what it ships is yoga, breath and music apps — I build the things I've spent my life doing.

Night edition

Rebuilt this site as the night version of the apekode design system. Same type and layout engine, colors flipped — the studio gets magenta on paper, this one runs acid green on black. The wire came along too.

Housekeeping

Moved Sentimentalizer over to the lab site with the rest of the shipped work. One link, no duplicates. apekode.com ↗

Handpan Dojo

Started a course app for the instrument I actually play. SwiftUI player, notation view, media over R2. Practicing from YouTube is a terrible feedback loop, and after six years of teaching I have opinions about how practice should be paced.

I also run
a lab.
